Short answer: open your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links and Add external link, paste your booking page URL, give it a title like "Book online" and save. Put it first, because the first link is the one shown on your profile. Instagram's Book Now action button only works with approved booking partners, so for most businesses the bio link is the reliable way to take bookings from Instagram.
The rest of this guide covers each step, how the Book Now button works, and four more places to put your link so people actually use it.
Why put a booking link on Instagram
People use Instagram to check out your work before they get in touch. When they like what they see, the easiest next step should be booking or asking for a quote, not sending a message and waiting for a reply.
Before you start
You need:
- A professional account. In your profile, tap the menu, go to account settings and switch to a professional (business or creator) account. It's free.
- A booking page link that works well on a phone and lets customers book or request a quote straight away.
Step-by-step: add your booking link to your bio
- Open your profile and tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links, then Add external link.
- Paste your booking page URL and give it a clear title, such as "Book online" or "Get a quote".
- Save.
- Make it the first link. If you have more than one, drag your booking link to the top. Instagram allows up to five links, but only the first is shown on your profile.
- Mention it in your bio, for example "Book online or get a quote below", so people know what the link is for.
- Test it from someone else's phone, or log out and view your profile.
What about Instagram's Book Now button?
Professional accounts can add action buttons such as Book Now or Reserve under Edit profile, then Action buttons (on some accounts it's under Contact options).
The catch: the button only connects to booking apps Instagram has approved as partners. You choose a partner from a list and sign in to it. You can't paste any booking link into it.
- If your booking software is on the partner list, add the button. It's a good extra.
- If it isn't, use the bio link. Don't sign up to a partner app just for the button, because you'd end up managing bookings in two places.
Four more places to put your link
The bio link is the main spot, but people often book from these too:
- Stories: add the Link sticker, paste your booking link and label it "Book now". Use it when you have openings this week.
- Highlights: save a "Book" Story to a Highlight on your profile, so the link stays visible after 24 hours.
- Captions: end posts showing your work with "Book or get a quote, link in bio". Links in captions aren't clickable, so point people to your bio.
- Message replies: in your professional settings, set up a saved reply with your booking link, so you can send it in one tap when people message you.
Track how many bookings it brings in
Add a tag to the end of your link, for example ?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=bio, so Instagram bookings show separately in your analytics or booking system. Use a different tag on your Story links, such as utm_medium=story, to see which works better.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add a Book Now button to Instagram?
Only if your booking software is one of Instagram's approved partners. Otherwise, add your booking link to your bio, which works with any booking or quote form.
How many links can I have in my Instagram bio?
Instagram allows up to five links in your bio. Only the first is shown on your profile, so put your booking link first.
Do I need a business account to add a link?
Anyone can add bio links, but a professional account gives you action buttons, saved replies and insights. Switching is free.
Can I use a quote form instead of a booking calendar?
Yes. If your work is quoted rather than booked by the hour, link to a quote or enquiry form that collects the job details, photos and suburb.
Should I use the same link on Instagram, Facebook and Google?
Yes. One form for every channel keeps every enquiry in one place. See how to add a booking button to Facebook and to your Google Business Profile.
