How to set up missed call forwarding

Setup takes less than 30 seconds.

To activate MissedCalls.com.au you need to forward unanswered calls to your MissedCalls number.

Your phone will still ring normally. If you don't answer, the call is automatically forwarded and the system captures the lead by SMS.

Important

Do NOT enable "Forward all calls". Your phone must still ring normally so you can answer jobs when available.

Quick troubleshooting

  • Make sure you dialled the setup code exactly as shown
  • Wait up to 60 minutes for your carrier to activate forwarding
  • Confirm forwarding is active by dialling *#61#

Step 1 — Clear existing forwarding

Reset any existing forwarding rules by dialling:

##004#

Dial this like a normal phone call and include # character.

Step 2 — Forward unanswered calls

Now set forwarding for missed calls only by dialling:

**61*YOUR_MISSEDCALLS_NUMBER#

Example:

**61*0434940607#

Dial this like a normal phone call and include the * and # characters.

⚠️

Activation delay warning

Some mobile networks take time to fully activate call forwarding. Even if your phone says forwarding is activated, it may take up to 60 minutes for the change to apply across the network.

Check if forwarding is active

You can confirm forwarding is active by dialling:

*#61#

Your phone will display the number that unanswered calls are forwarded to. Confirm it matches your MissedCalls number.

Test the system

Once forwarding is activated, run a quick test to confirm everything is working.

  1. 1

    Wait before testing

Wait up to 60 minutes after activating call forwarding before running the test. Some carriers take time to apply the change across their network.
  2. 2

Call your phone from another mobile

Use another Australian mobile number and call your phone.

Let the phone ring until it stops. Do not decline the call.

  3. 3

    Confirm the SMS response

The caller should receive an SMS with your automatic reply message.

Known issues by carrier

Call forwarding works on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone using the same setup code. However, some carrier features can occasionally interfere with forwarding.

Telstra

Possible issue

Calls go to MessageBank instead of forwarding.

Fix

  • Disable MessageBank voicemail
  • Extend ring time in Telstra settings
  • Reset forwarding using ##004# and activate again

Optus

Possible issue

Forwarding code does not activate.

Fix

  • Turn off Wi-Fi calling temporarily
  • Reset forwarding using ##004#
  • Dial the setup code again

Vodafone

Possible issue

Call forwarding code does not activate correctly.

Fix

  • Reset forwarding using ##004#
  • Re-enter the setup code exactly as provided
  • If issues persist, enable forwarding in the My Vodafone portal

If forwarding codes don't work

Some carriers block dial codes. If this happens, contact your carrier and ask them to set:
